POLIMERPROM, Ltd was established in 2003. The general activity of the company is the design and manufacture of products from polymeric material. POLIMERPROM products are manufactured using modern high-tech equipment and are distinguished by their high quality characteristics meeting worldwide standards.
Since 2004 OOO "Polimerprom" has been engaged in designing and production of the threaded protectors for casing tubes, oil-well tubing and drill pipes, safety elements for line pipes and large pipes. The developed design of the protectors and safety elements have no analogues and are protected by the Patents of the Russian Federation. The availability of the pilot engineering department and application of a set of forms for press moulds makes it possible to meet the customers' demand for innovations.
Our experienced design bureau combined with the use of form-dies for moulds allows us to satisfy customer requests for new types of protectors in the shortest possible time. The use of microprocessor based technology provides for the high accuracy of thread profiles which completely protects threaded connections from mechanical impact, neutralizes vibrations, and prevents the protector turning during transportation. Protectors also provide protection for the full length of the threaded connection.
The produced protectors and protection elements are designed for tubes of quality grade PLS-1, PLS-2 and PLS-3 and are in full compliance with standards API Spec. 5CT, API Spec. 5D and API 5L, they have Certificate of Conformance to ГОСТ P and form a part of standard "STO" of OAO "Gasprom".
The Company has implemented and is applying the Quality Management System ISO 9001:2000, and Registration Certificates "QMI" No. CERT-0025562 and "IQNet" No.CERT-025562-1063940 were received in January, 2008.
The Company carries out serial production of protectors of widely-used types of thread: OTTM, OTTГ, BC, LC, STC, ТМК FMC, ТМК GF, ТМК PF, ТМК CS, ТМК TTL-01, ТМК FMT, ТМК PF ET, ТМК-1, and protectors of any other types of thread can be produced by the Company at the Customer's request.
The manufacture of seal rings for sleeve joints of tubings and casing is developed. Seal rings are made of fluoroplastic, mark F-4MB (without components causing corrosion of sleeve joint and pipe). Seal rings are made according to TU 301-05-73-90 and provide sealing of sleeve joints of tubings and casing at working temperatures from -196ºС to +200ºС.
OOO “POLIMERPROM” manufactures metallopolymeric cradle supports for packing, storage and car, railway or sea transportation of casing, tubings and drilling pipes. Cradle supports are made of compositions based on high pressure polyethylene with low density, mark 10803-020 (without components causing corrosion and sticking to the surface of the pipe), according to state standard specification GOST 16337-77. Cradle supports have steel reinforcement and are used at working temperatures from -46ºС (50ºF) to +66ºС (150ºF).
In addition, the Company produces safety elements for large pipes, safety elements for electric-welded pipes and seamless tubes, safety covers and other products of plastic material by agreement with the Customers.
At POLIMERPROM we have installed automatic thermoplastic equipment that can make parts of any category of complexity in weight up to 2.5Kg. Painting of products is produced on modern painting equipment using tribostatic and electrostatic spraying, providing an ecologically safe way of painting.
Use of machine tools with numerical control program management allows consistent manufacturing of product for storage and provides for a highly accurate thread profile. Finished product is 100% inspected in accordance with requirements of the technical specifications.
Finished and accepted product is packed on pallets and is suitable for transportation by any type of transport.
OOO "Polimerprom" effects deliveries of the threaded protectors to OAO "TAGMET", OAO "VTZ", OAO "CTZ" being a part of OAO "TMK", to OAO "VMZ" being a part of OAO "OMK" of "Veus Holding, Inc." (Russian subsidiary company "Vezerford") and to a number of other companies.

The major types of the Company products are as follows:
threaded safety protectors (cap and nipple) from polyethylene, reinforced, non-reinforced and with steel shell for protection of thread of tool joints having quality grades PSL-1, PSL-2 and PSL-3 produced under TU (Russian Specification), GOST, and API Spec. 5D, manufactured in compliance with the requirements of Specification TU 2291-004-79238319-07.
Thermoplastic threaded protectors are manufactured using the method of pressure molding from polymer beads which do not contain any components that can cause corrosion and stickage to threaded surface. There is no any deterioration of properties thereof within the temperature range plus 660C (1500F) to minus 460C (500F).
Protection metal shell and reinforcement is manufactured from steel grade 08kp in compliance with GOST 16523-97. The reinforcement and shell wall thickness is equal to δ=1.5÷2.0 mm.
Threaded protectors are manufactured in compliance with the requirements of the present Specification, production documentation, and detail drawings which shall be approved as per the applicable procedure. The performance characteristics of threaded protectors have been developed for tube quality grades PSL-1, PSL-2 and PSL-3 with due consideration of the requirements applicable for threaded protectors under API Spec. 5CT, Spec. 5D.
The threaded protector surface quality shall meet the requirements of applicable standards for thermoplastic products: no turbidities, bubbles, cracks, blowholes, and other inclusions are allowed on the product surface; the cast gate shall be cut, the remaining height shall not exceed 1.0mm. The allowable degree of surface roughness for protectors shall not exceed 0.63 μm ("shagreen" type surface is allowable) and the same shall be ensured by casting mold. For protector surface, the imprints of scratches and minor dents on the casting mold, as well as the marks of casting mold joints are allowable.
For metal shell surface, no folding neither any other defects are allowable which affect the performance characteristics and marketable state. For the shell welds, any lack of penetration, pores and slag inclusions, cracks and burns-through are not allowable. The thread surface shall be smooth, without any burrs and blowholes, shall be perfect thread, and shall have no defects which may cause any discontinuity and deformation thereof.
The color of protector and shell is specified by the "Customer".
The overall dimensions and weight of the product shall comply with the dimensions specified in TU and may differ from the specified ones by no more than +2%. The thread diameter and sealing diameter at temperature of 210C (700F) shall comply with the dimensions shown in GOST or TU with due consideration of the tolerable values.
The thread diameter after holding the protector in the testing media with temperatures plus 660C (1500F) and minus 460C (500F) and after further re-stabilizing at temperature of 210C (700F) shall ensure the engagement of no less than 50% of the specified thread height.
Vibration resistance - the protector shall remain on the tube for 18.5 hours when held on vibrating table with frequency of 15 Hz.
Axial shock proofness - the protector shall ensure the safety of machined surfaces of outside and inside tube threads assuring the minimum energy absorption value as per the requirements of API Spec. 5CT, Spec. 5D.
Shock proofness at angle 450 - the protector shall ensure the safety of machined surfaces of outside and inside tube threads assuring the minimum energy absorption value as per the requirements of API Spec. 5CT, Spec. 5D.
Twist-off proofness (nipple end only) - the protector shall ensure the safety of thread as per the requirements of API Spec. 5CT, Spec. 5D. The presence of load application marks is allowable; however no twist-off is allowable.
The protectors ensure the safety of sealing area and the perfect thread area, the corrosion damage shall not exceed 10% of all threaded surface.
The Quality Policy is forming the basis for the entire activity of the company. The top management of POLIMERPROM have taken the decision to develop and implement the up-to-date quality management system covering the requirements of international standard ISO 9001:2000.

The threaded protectors produced by our company are confirmed by the Patent and Certificate of Compliance of the Russian Federation, and the employees have attended the Management Overview seminar covering the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and completed the training under the supervision of Mr. Andrew Anderson, the President of AQMS Inc., IRCA QMS 2000 Lead Auditor.
In january, 2008 POLIMERPROM, Ltd successfully passed the certification audit of their qualities management system (QMS) according to the requirements of international standard ISO. The Audit was performed by the Quality Management Institute (QMI), Canada. Ltd has demonstrated that its QMS is in compliance with ISO 9001:2000.
IQNet and QMI hereby certify that the organization POLIMERPROM Ltd for the following field of activities the design and manufacture plastic and composite protectors for threaded and plain end tubular products has implemented and maintains a Quality Management System which fulfills the requirements of the following standard ISO 9001:2000, CAN/CSA ISO 9001:2000, ANSI-ASQ ISO 9001:2000, EN ISO 9001:2000.
